Okay, okay. My last selection in the 12 days of holiday gifts from Richmond VA businesses isn’t really a business, but I think you’ll let it slide seeing my choice is making a donation to one of our great Richmond VA charities.
Richmond, Virginia is one of the most philanthropic cities I have ever lived in. Sure, there may be more charities in another city, but no one shouts as loud in support of their cause like Richmonders do. Giving back is a thread you will find woven into the very coat of this Southern city. I have many friends who would love nothing more than for me to skip the wine & chocolates, and in lieu make a donation to a wonderful charity in their name for their holiday gift.
Below you will find some of my favorite Richmond VA charities to make a donation to for the last pick in my 12 days of holiday gifts from Richmond VA businesses. Don’t see yours there? Let me know and I would be happy to add it to the list. Or, check out GiveRichmond.Org, an awesome website where you can explore your own special cause and participate in charitable giving.
CJ’s Thumbs Up Foundation - “provides financial assistance to families of children with chronic and life threatening illnesses through individual giving and partnerships with organizations that share similar goals.”
FeedMore – “FeedMore serves local children who need a nutritional foundation to learn and grow, Central Virginia families struggling to provide for themselves, and your senior neighbors who need food and services for health and independence.”
TACA – “Talking About Curing Autism provides support and education for families affected by autism…”
Richmond SPCA - “non-profit, no-kill humane organization dedicated to the principle that every life is precious.”
The Children’s Heart Foundation - “bring health, hope, and happiness to children impacted by congenital heart defects, the number one birth defect in the United States.”
The KLM Scholarship Foundation - “The primary purpose of the organization is to raise funds and distribute book scholarship awards.”
Ronald McDonals House Richmond – “provides a home away from home for children receiving medical treatment and their families, and helps to fund programs in the local area that directly improve the well-being of children.”
Don’t have the monetary means to make a donation? Then consider giving a few minutes of your time and let Virginia Blood Services suck your blood and save a life this holiday season!
